GOD! What an
episode. That is Game of Thrones at its
finest. I’ve been dreading this episode because,
and I don’t know if you’ve caught onto this, but I’m a huge fan of the
Starks. They are my favorite family in
The Song of Ice and Fire and they are constantly getting shit on. It sucks, but I can’t wait until this family
gets their revenge. If you haven’t
guessed already, this review will be SPOILER HEAVY. If you haven’t seen the show or read the
books, turn back now. I will try to
refrain from talking about what happens in the books past the point in the
show, though, so if you haven’t read past this point don’t worry.
This episode had a lot happening. Probably the most bad ass part was the taking
of Yunkai. Seeing Jorah and Daario fight
was awesome, and what about Grey Worm?! BEAST! That was the best fight I’ve seen on this
show. Then you have the battle in the
gift. Bran and his crew are huddled up
in a tower when they see John and the Wildings coming up. Bran has to enter into Hodor and then his
wolf to save John. To be honest, I didn’t
know how the Warg powers of Bran would come across on screen, but it was
unbelievably cool when his eyes go white and you know he’s in one of the wolves: So freaking cool. Of course, we’ll have to talk about the Red
Wedding. I cringed when I read it in the
book, and I cringed when I saw it on screen.
I almost feel as bad as when Dumbledore died.
So, we finally got to see The Red Wedding. Sheesh.
What a show. I loved the
atmosphere and the execution of this scene (pun intended). It was well shot and perfectly paced. I read the book, I knew what was going to
happen, but they paced it so well I was still on the edge of my seat. That’s good filmmaking. When that Frey closes the door and the boom
echoes across the hall, you just know shit is going down. There was one problem I had with the scene and
it’s hard to discuss because of spoiler type deals so…
SPOILERS!
Jayne Westerling wasn’t supposed to die in the Red
Wedding. Now, Jeyne’s character has been
re-named Talisa for the show and she has a slightly different backstory, so her
fate CAN be different from the character in the book, but how will that affect
will that have on the outcome of the story.
Tiny details become important in The Song of Ice and Fire and this could
potentially have huge consequences in the future. The only reason I’m not freaking out is the
show runners have heard the end of the story from George R.R. Martin himself so
they know what will become important. I
trust in them, and they haven’t let me down yet.
OKAY,
YOU’RE SAFE
With one more episode left in the season, I’m questioning
what exactly will happen before credits roll on episode 10. I’m not going to spoil anything, but this
twist was just the beginning what happens next in the story and next season
will put this episode in perspective. I
have waited all season to view people’s reactions on this last twist, and you
guys didn’t disappoint. I didn’t get to
watch the episode until today, but I flipped through facebook last night and
saw the posts. Knowing how this caught
people off guard has me super excited to see how you handle what’s next. Sorry to keep you in suspense, but when it happens
I want to see the posts so I can’t go spoiling it, now can I?
What did you think of the episode? What are your reactions? I want to know! Also, I need help deciding what to watch
tomorrow. Should I see “After Earth” or “Now
You See Me”?
