Okay, short blog post tonight. I just got back from seeing Iron Man 3, which
was great by the way. Enough about that
for now, though. We’ll discuss it more
on Tuesday after I see it again, plus it will give you folks a chance to see it
before I drop the spoiler bombs on you.
Anyway.
I watched the second episode of Mad Men today and I have
to say, this show isn’t growing on me quite yet. Not that it’s badly written or anything. The show is good, but nothing has grasped me
yet.
This episode revolves around (you guessed it) the ladies
room. Many of the plot’s revelations
come inside that enigmatic room where I’ve never been. Betty’s hands are going numb, and we learn
about her problem as she’s in the ladies room with a friend and she can’t open
her lipstick. This leads to a heart
wrenching scene where she accidently crashes her car with her kids in the back
seat because her hands go numb and she can’t grab the wheel. I can’t imagine the feeling of almost killing
your kids because of something you can’t control making you a danger to the
ones you care the most about. That is
horrible, I am sure. We learn that Peggy
still lusts for Pete and that one of the office girls is having troubles
because we see her crying in the ladies room multiple times.
Peggy has to fend off other men in the office because
there is apparently a pool to see who can hook up with her first (game’s up,
Pete won). One of the copy writers
courts her, buying her lunch and giving her a tour of the offices, although she
just thinks he’s being friendly until he shoves his tongue down her
throat. Peggy also has troubles with
Joan who, even though she poses as a friend, takes every opportunity to make
snide comments toward her. This is a
random note, but Christina Hendricks nods her head a lot in this episode
whenever she is saying something mean. I
don’t know what that’s about, but it distracted me.
I hope this show starts to pick up. I’ve heard from a co-worker that they didn’t
get into the show until episode 5 so we’ll see.
I hate to cut it so short tonight, but it is almost 3 o’clock and I have
to work at 8, so tata.
