Finally, the dramatic conclusion of the Pillow and
Blanket War, I’ve been waiting for this.
“Pillows and Blankets” is probably one of my favorite episodes. Really.
I feel like I say that every week, but this one was severely awesome
like, I almost peed from laughing so hard.
“Pillows and Blankets” is told through a different
structure than normal Community episodes by recreating a wartime
documentary. They have an epic
voice-over describing the action and pictures from battle scenes. Probably one of my favorite aspects of the
show was the use of text messages in place of soldiers’ letters home.
The highpoint in the episode for me was seeing Pierce’s “secret
weapon,” which is Chevy Chase in a large pillow suit. The scene where he attacks the “Changlorious
Basterds” is priceless. The character work
is strong, as always; Annie starts up a nursing station where she cleans
feathers off people with broken glasses while their strapped to IV’s of
Gatorade, Jeff instigates the war to avoid going to classes, Shirley becomes a
bad ass warrior for Troy (as she’s known to do), and Britta becomes an inept battlefield
photographer whose only good picture was taken by accident.
In the end, Jeff learns that he’ll do anything for his
friends, even if that means going across campus to retrieve imaginary
friendship hats. I’ll probably be coming
back to this episode a lot. It was immensely
enjoyable. If you aren’t watching
Community, do it. You will thank me.
Also, feel free to comment about anything. Person of Interest’s season is just about
over, so if you have a recommendation for a new TV show, let me know!
